Parental Forum keeps a written record of how a University -Model school treats parent partnership.

Parents as co-educators.
The case of Second Baptist School University-Model in Houston.

A University-Model school asks parents to be co-educators. Students are on campus part of the week. The other days are at home, with parents overseeing the work. That design only works if grades, expectations, and enrollment rules are written, timely, and the same for every family.

This site is for parents who are about to enroll, and for parents who were told the model still works that way. It is not a campaign. The children in this case are settled at another school. The page exists so the next family can read the letters before they pay a deposit.

Four questions to ask any University-Model school, including SBSUM:

  1. Can the school end enrollment in the middle of the year without a written standard, a chance to remedy, or an appeal?

  2. Can a new family rule arrive by video, after a decision, with no effective date and no place in the handbook?

  3. If one child leaves, can the school require a confidential letter that lets it dismiss the child still enrolled?

  4. Is the parent handbook a contract, or does the school reserve sole discretion to revise it?

In this case the answers are in the documents. On or about January 5, 2026, the Head of University-Model asked a family to withdraw the remaining children immediately. The children had no academic failure and no discipline record on the family’s account. On January 14, 2026, the Director of University-Model Operations wrote that the sons were not expelled. The family had planned a later withdrawal. The school asked that it take effect then. Records would not say expulsion. The 2025 Family Discipleship Manual says it is not contractual, and that the school may revise it at its sole discretion.

Read the case. Open the letters. Ask the school which written policy authorized January 5th.
